Darlington Circuit Divisions

Darlington County Circuit Court work divides into Court of Common Pleas and Court of General Sessions. Common Pleas is the civil side. Darlington County Lower Courts

Darlington County lower courts are often the first stop for traffic tickets, misdemeanor charges, warrants, bond matters, preliminary hearings, and small civil disputes. The Darlington Magistrate office is at 115 Camp Road, and the Hartsville/Lamar Magistrate office is at 404 South 4th Street in Hartsville. Magistrates issue arrest warrants and handle civil cases involving money up to $7,500. They also handle many practical record questions that do not belong in Circuit Court.

Municipal Courts serve city and town cases. Darlington Municipal Court is in City Hall at 400 Pearl Street. Hartsville Municipal Court lists contact through the city court and notes that it does not accept payments for tickets issued by the Darlington County Sheriff's Department or South Carolina Highway Patrol, which go to Darlington County Magistrate's Office. Lamar Municipal Court is held at Town Hall on the third Monday of each month at 1:30 p.m., according to the town page.
